Philosophy

At Yogies Playhouse we believe that a solid foundation laid in the early years is crucial to the child, belonging, being and becoming. We have developed educationally appropriate program’s that support the Early Years Learning Framework while acknowledging the importance of learning through play.

Learning through play

We believe that each child is a unique and valuable individual in control of their own learning. We encourage development of self-worth, as well as respect for others through enriching daily interactions and activities. We believe that children are theory builders and problem solvers, who learn best by making meaning of their world through play, relationships and experiences. We value children as social beings and recognise that they co-construct knowledge with peers, their families and staff.

It is our strong belief that each child is given the opportunity to evolve and develop in an environment which supports and develops their individualism as well as nurturing their strengths, aspirations and sense of self.

At Yogies Playhouse we strive to develop trust, respect and responsibility among all relationships.

It is our aim to provide an open friendly environment where all parents/educators and children feel accepted regardless of culture, religious and family beliefs, socio-economic status, gender or disability. We believe in closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians through awareness and education. We value what each individual has to offer to our centre and encourage all to share the same. We recognise the family unit as the primary educators in a child’s life.

We are committed to the care of the whole child and therefore maintain strong links with the wider community to ensure that the care we provided is based on current early childhood practices. We value the diversity of Australian culture and actively encourage outside involvement in our centre. We aim to make the transition from home to centre as smooth and meaningful as possible for both child and parent/guardian.

We aim to communicate on varying levels with parent their child’s progress and accomplishments. We believe in open lines of communication based on mutual respect and a desire to promote each child’s learning and wellbeing.

We believe that the child’s learning environment influences the child’s desire to discover their surrounding and the people within, hence developing relationships. The learning environment is culturally constructed and provides a variety of opportunities for exploration and play. We believe that the child’s nurturing environment will give security and a sense of belonging to the child and their family.

At Yogies Playhouse we strive to develop trust, respect and responsibility among all relationships. We value the need of the child as paramount and strive to remain open so that all voices can be heard, all possibilities realised ad all potential fulfilled.
